ABOUT JAY
Jay Jordan is a Florence native who has dedicated his career to serving his community and the people of South Carolina.
Jay graduated from the College of Charleston before earning his law degree from the Charleston School of Law. An attorney by profession, his experience in the law and commitment to public service ultimately led him to the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he has represented District 63 since 2015.
Today, Jay serves as Chairman of the House Ethics Committee and First Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, giving Florence County an experienced voice on some of the most important issues before the General Assembly.
Long before serving in the State House, Jay was active in the Florence community. He served on the Florence County Election Commission and Voter Registration Board, including as Chairman, as well as the City of Florence Planning Commission and Family Promise of the Pee Dee. He has also spent time coaching youth football and baseball.
Jay and his wife, Tara, were married in 2003 and have three children — Wallace, Lana Claire, and Monroe. Faith and family remain central to Jay's life. He is a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Florence Baptist Temple.
Whether at home in Florence or at the State House in Columbia, Jay remains committed to serving the community that raised him and working to make South Carolina an even better place for the next generation.
